Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about checking ArcGIS Feature Service health.
What does the Health Check tool actually test?
It sends a live request to your ArcGIS Feature Service and reports response time, online/offline status, field count, exact record count, geometry type, spatial reference, capabilities and max record count — from a single URL paste, no login required.
Does it work with private, token-protected services?
Yes. Paste an existing token, or click "Generate token from username + password" to create one — GISGP exchanges your credentials for a token directly with ArcGIS Online and doesn't store them.
What response time counts as healthy?
Under 300ms is marked Fast, 300–800ms is OK, and above 800ms is flagged Slow. This reflects your Feature Service's own responsiveness, not GISGP's processing time.
Can I monitor a service continuously instead of checking once?
Yes — for recurring automated checks with email alerts on downtime, sign in and use GISGP's Health Monitors (Starter plan or higher). This free tool is for one-off, on-demand checks.
Does GISGP store the URLs or data I check?
No. Each check is a live, real-time query to your Feature Service — nothing about the service or its data is logged or stored beyond an anonymous usage counter.
