    Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about extracting layers from an ArcGIS Online Web Map.

What's the difference between a Web Map and a Feature Service?
A Web Map is an ArcGIS Online item that bundles multiple operational layers and a basemap into one configured view. A Feature Service is a single data layer. This tool accepts either a Web Map's item URL/ID or a direct FeatureServer URL and lists every layer inside it.
Where do I find a Web Map's item ID?
Open the Web Map in ArcGIS Online and copy the URL from the address bar, or use the item ID from the map's item details page — paste either one directly into this tool.
Does it show hidden or inactive layers too?
Yes — every operational layer is listed along with its visibility state, so you can see layers that are toggled off in the map by default.
Can I use the extracted layer URLs in other GISGP tools?
Yes — each layer row has a Copy button for its FeatureServer URL, which you can paste straight into Feature Count, Health Check, REST Explorer or any export/import flow.
Does this work with private Web Maps?
Yes, if you provide a valid token — GISGP fetches the Web Map JSON from the ArcGIS Online REST API using the same token-based auth as any other tool here.
